Hi, everyone! We are Diego and Paola, owners of MACAW tutoring and homeschool support. We are thrilled to be the best language tutors in the region and the most liable source of support for your home school family project.
We have a certificate in modern languages from Sherbrooke’s University, we are Spanish native speakers and we’ve been studying, working and living in Quebec for 11 years. Helping people is our passion, and we love nothing more than helping students develop their skills and achieve their academic goals.
MACAW tutoring and home school support is a family initiative looking to offer the best support for families in Okotoks and foothills. We support all learning styles, academic levels, and age groups: it’s part of our mission as tutors and as parents ourselves.
We work with parents seeking to boost their child’s literacy and students ready to take a new language adventure or improve their skills in different domains.
Diego Machado
Head Tutor
Master in International law, university professor in Colombia and multidisciplinary researcher. Political Philosophy · Law and Legal Studies · Legal Theory. Father committed to the education of his children. A lover of French, Spanish and English, he also shares a love for education through sports, critical thinking and values.
My background in Colombia where I was born was specially teaching law and working with the public administration, in Canada since 2013, I had worked in multiple domains from the federal government, provincial government, universities, community organizations, financial institutions and private companies.
I love the meaning of the verb “Apprendre” in french. It is an action of double nature, to teach and to learn. Being a parent has changed my life for ever specially in an engaged way for the future of my children and their generation.
Working with kids as a sport coach and tutor gave me the ambition to share all my knowledge and experience for the future of the next generation of Canadians. Offering support to others parents is a priority for me, we are all in this together.
Paola Suarez

Biologist, nurse and natural practitioner. Involved in my children’s education.
I am greatly motivated by natural health. I have always had a vocation to serve, help and contribute to the well-being of others.
In my country of origin, Colombia, I studied biology. I had a special interest for nature, wildlife and the environment. During this period, I developed a rigour sense of observation and curiosity. At the beginning of my immigration journey to Canada, I reoriented my career for the first time. I studied Nursing and it turned out to be a fulfilling new career. I had the opportunity to work with a diverse clientele, however my favourite department was perinatal care. Then, the birth of my second child made me consider my professional future elsewhere again. I was looking for a new path where I could find a work and family life balance. As a Natural Health Practitioner, I offered integral health services, constantly acquire knowledge and share with incredible people.
It has been a blessing from the universe to start working for my family and be my own boss providing support to other families.

The macaw’s endangered status only adds to their allure, highlighting the importance of embracing and showcasing our rare skills and talents. By embracing our inner macaw, we can tap into our creative potential, speak our truth, and make a meaningful impact on the world around us.
